Last night, in an apparent attempt to foil my budding career as a supermodel, my loveley boyfriend suprised me by ADOPTING OUR KITTY! I was walking for a friend from work in this show:
Just as I was getting all waify and zen-like, aforementioned lovely bfri sends me a photograph of the VERY cat we had fallen in love with at the shelter the day before- Philomena- in OUR bathtub! It made for a very excited next couple of hours, waiting waiting waiting to get home to my new little purr factory!
So far, she is a perfect fit for our little studio apartment family. She might be the quietest cat alive, a quality that lends itself nicely to her newly bestowed title of Mews-a-lot! She does however, purr a lot (but that would be too obvious.) She likes to hang out and rub her face all over us. She has yet to do anything really naughty, and perhaps most importantly, she has yet to do anything to seriously anger or annoy Rob!
And now, for the PRECIOUS STUFF!
PURR.

Kittens and Guacamole in Belgium...or, Day Off in the Mission.
Today, I feel like I spent the entire day lying around-but in reality I suppose I didn't. Rob got the day off to work on the fifteen page paper that's due tomorrow for his Islam class. But before he got to work on that, we of course had to get some quality time together.
We started the day off at Frjtz, a Belgian fry joint that I had not been to before today but have always wanted to try. It was unimpressive at best; having heard so many rave reviews of the place I guess I was expecting some sort of mind-blowing eats. The deal here is that they serve you a load of fries, and you get to choose a couple of "specialty" dipping sauces to go with your tates. My pesto mayo dipping sauce was for sure a highlight of my meal- although Rob's white truffle artichoke ketchup and bacon mayo sauces left something to be desired (for me at least.) They also serve one of my most favorite things here- crepes! In my opinion you can't really screw up a crepe- all anyone can do is deliver your most favorite things ito you in a light and fluffy pancake deal. Anyone can, however, overcharge you for said crepe. I'll continue to visit worlds cheaper and just as yummy Crepes A Go Go, especially since it's down the street from my house.
Next up we headed to Paxton Gate, one of Rob's favorite stores (where he got the famous dead bat that hangs in our apartment.) We discovered they now have a children's store, which had lot of pretty cool and random children's toys, crafts, and artwork. Rob particularly liked a stuffed frog that was handmade in Kenya. My favorite thing was P.L. Travers' Mary Poppins series, reissued in hardcover with their original covers! As I expressed my interest in these books to Rob, this CRAZY WOMAN standing next to me goes "yeah, that was before Disney got ahold of her." As Disney's Mary Poppins has always been my most favorite movie ever- and having read all of the original books as a child- this broad's comment really offended me. I go "Uh huh" and scrambled out of that place.
Since we were in the Mission, I decided to talk Rob visiting the San Francisco SPCA to look at the kittens!! Well, there were no kittens, actually, just a lot of homeless adult cats and dogs. Of course I fell in love with one, a one year old female cat named Philomena. She was completely precious, playful but not annoying, and super loving to both Rob and I. I tend to dislike black cats (because I think they are boring looking,) and we want a boy kitten, so we went home empty handed. But Philomena was totes rad, not to mention her bad-ass name and super long and sleek tail. I've been a little blue all day thinking about not having her here with me, but hopefully she gets a great home soon.
I came home and napped off my $6 mimosa from Frjtz while Rob pounded away at the keyboard. Woke up and decided to do something yummy with the 89 cent avocados and corn tortillas I had left over from taco night. I decided to try my hand at homemade tortilla chips and guacamole. Both came out great (if not pretty unhealthy!)
Tomorrow- work then Becky's fashion show for SFSU! I should probably be sleeping right now...eek.

she wears like...high waisted levi's
so the other day I was helping these three cool-ish lesbians with denim, and at the end of it all one of them says to me "do people tell you all the time that you look just like chloe sevingy. . .only more beautiful?" hahaha and I'm like "uhh no. . .but thanks!" and so ever since then I've been COMPLETELY unable to remember her name when I want to retell the story, like its on the TIP of my tongue and I can picture her face and everything but her name just escaped me. so tonight me and ashley are trying to figure it out. . .she's blonde. . .she has a funny sounding last name. . .she's always on the worst dressed list but she's stylish. . .I think she modeled for louis vuitton? anyway ashley's looking around on the internet for her for a good ten minutes, until she asked what the girl wears, and I say "funny looking high waisted levi's" and ashley goes "oh, chloe sevingy?" hahahahah I guess I'm not the only one who identifies celebs by what they wear, either that or her high waisted levi's just really stand out.

new room, new direction! (I hope.)
I spent today moving around the furniture in my room. I was feeling like the feng shui was a little off. the bed is now in the center of the room- no walls to protect me! scary but necessary, like so many things in the context of my life. i also hooked up my old computer that I haven't touched since I moved here- that's over a year. I knew I had a lot of pictures on it but I think I underestimated. I'm trying to put the best/ most interesting/ telling ones on my flickr; I paid for that damn thing I better get some use out of it. but brian and I took SOOOOO MANY pictures it's pretty redic. we were unloading the digi cam like almost every week for a year. plus flickr is extremely confusing to me... but it's not like I've even gotten that far yet. it's also making me miss my LIFE... I've all but forgotten the days when I used to have an apartment, a kitchen, a balcony, and some sort of direction. san francisco tastes more and more sour every time I look into the past. my dad also gave me a new lamp and I'm considering it to be the lovelier light I'm living my life in from this day forward. :)

be do be domp bam do bop
mmbop is playing in the bathroom I'm peeing in right now. its amazing how true that stupid ass song ended up being! I love my fabulous four friends especially ashley.
vegas
can't wait to be there, even if it's only a day. the last few days have been a little hellish. waaaaay more drama than I normally enjoy (and I normally enjoy a fair amount.) virgin america apparently rules, I've spent the last hour playing an anagram game (um, amazing,) watching entourage, and drinking wine- and now I'm watching SNAPPED! aka one of the best shows on television. my headphones have broken though, that's a disappointment. the left earphone plays at an extremely low volume- if that wasn't enought I pulled off the earbud and lost it under the seat. while I was searching for it I grabbed the socked foot of the man behind me- embarrassing! uh oh... TURBS!!! casey told me no plane has ever crashed from turbs though, I hope he's right!! welp, gotta stow my device.

bowling is hard.
and patrons of the danville bowl are tragic. at least in the bar. the bartendress- who can barely get her damned WALK straight- is serving: an 80 year old man on OXYGEN, a meth head stripper with her gray haired "date," and me. i keep asking myself- this IS danville, right? where do all these crazylames COME from? anyway, my bowling skills are stacking up as quite unfortunate- chris is currently bowling for both me AND him and I am STILL losing. i blame it on weak wrists, entirely. my balls veer to the right, I can't help it!

SO EXCITED!
So for the last maybe 2 or 3 years I have been DYING for a pair of saltwater sandals. I guess I never knew that they were called that, maybe that's why I had such a hard time finding them. I classified them as "those cute little sandals little kids wear, you know??" So a broad comes into the store today...wearing them! So I had to ask her where she got them... www.mysaltwatersandals.com. I'm totally getting RED!

idea! (and an interesting nght)
so I was thinking. pretty much everywhere I go I always notice the most stylish girl in the room, on the street, etc. sometimes I admire hairstyles, specific pieces of jewelry or clothes, or just general style. sometimes I say something, you know if it's really super super rad and I just cannot stay quiet, like tonight with this girl's long plastic snake dangly earrings. I learned she got them at piedmont boutique on haight, and that they were only $3. with a little googling I figured out this is the store on haight with those big ol' legs hanging out of the window. anyway I was thinking, what if I carried around my good camera and took pictures of these girls, to blog about them- and have a blog about san francisco street style! you know like that section in nylon where they take pictures of people out at clubs and ask them funny little questions about what they're wearing? that's pretty much my favorite section. but you know all those kids are always from new york, and it's not the same as scoping people from your side of the coast. I could have cards with my blog's address to hand out to people who's picture I take so they can find it, and cute stickers made to promote it? yeah? there doesn't SEEM to be a niche already filled for this, and I think it would be a fun hobby and a way to mingle around and make friends. I mean I know I personally would be kinda stoked if someone asked to take my picture for their "style blog." please leave me some comments about this idea as it is still only a seed in my mind. In other news of the night, there is this broad here right now at the parkside, singing this song called "everyone is hideous compared to you." I think that's pretty clever and I think she is pretty much supacool, mostly because of the monocle she was wearing around her neck (that's right, a MONOCLE "to help her see small things") and her sparkley gold fanny pack. right now she is pretty much gyrating around stage with her monocle in and talking jibberish, but somehow IT RULES! I think you all of you (all 5 of you) should check her out- myspace.com/chinesebookie. also, my fake eylashes from the wedding are STILL on, well at least a few of them. umyeah, I tried to remove them but am not having the best of luck, any suggestions? I'm starting to look like a tragic whore, especially tonight on the corner of 16th and mission trying to hail a cab, although I'm not sure I can blame that on the lashes : / goodnight, work at 9 am on the women's floor, boo, at least I have some awesome dvd's waiting for me when I get home tomorrow night!

can't decide
whether my old marc by marc jacobs skinny chrissie's are "mom jeans chic" or just plain old mom jeans. oh well, they might be two seasons old and an just an inch too "medium rise," but tonight for eliot's they will be juuust fine! In other news, my dad likes manhattens (straight up tonight,) and my cat is still freakin' a-dorrrr-a-ble! also, I hate flickr, it is slow and impossible to understand, but I have almost 700 pictures up for your viewing pleasure- http://flickr.com/heatheristhebest yeah, that's my username, so what?

new movies!
just bought four new dvds from amazon!
-mermaids (christina ricci's best work in my opinion.)
-the new adventures of pippi longstocking (always one of my absolute faaaavorites!)
-the courtship of eddie's father (the movie not the tv show, still amazing.)
-the dick van dyke show season 3 (season 1 was too expensive.)
man I am sooo excited for all the dvd watching that I will be partaking in soon. probably should have saved that $65 for something else (maybe all my BART parking tickets?) but oh well. I'm not really worried about money anymore because tonight my dad came up with what I think is a rock solid financial plan for me- spend $10 a week on lottery tickets! yeah!

wow
kinda can't believe my best friend is GETTING MARRIED in two days. i remember thinking that nicole getting her license to drive was a big deal... we were tooling around to the mall in her car an entire year before anyone else's. now she's the first one to get a HUSBAND. are the futures we used to imagine for ourselves when we were in high school actually coming true? ashley, holly, heather and robyn- bridesmaids in nicole's wedding, saturday august 16th, 2008. really, did life happen this fast? i feel like just yesterday nicole and i were crying over our 10th grade boyfriends, dancing the night away at the golden skate, eating chicken fingers and oreo madness at tgi fridays, trying to make our twelve o'clock curfew (well, MY twelve o'clock curfew :) the five of us were JUST YESTERDAY sitting on the block at lunch sharing big cookies, wearing our homecoming shirts, writing notes, writing in each other's yearbooks, having sleepovers, and insane ridiculous drama. and we're all still together? like, it's no longer a question of IF we will be there to see each other get married and, GASP! have babies... it's happening. two weeks ago we were in the airport bar having a drink before our flight to vegas for the bachelorette party. i looked at my absolute BESTS at that moment and told them exactly what I was feeling right then- "so, we're like... real ADULTS." hahaha. i guess it's just weird since we were so different, so much younger when we met. but the difference never feels that obvious unless i think about it. i guess that's a pretty cool thing, to have four other people that are so amazingly constant in your life you look back and say "where did all that damn time go?" you four bitches are amazing. i don't know what i'd do without even one of you in my life. and I know its totes nicole's day and all, but it's gonna be pretty rad saturday standing up with all four of you and thinking about how far we've come, and how much further we have to go.
"it's hard to find people who love you no matter what. i was lucky enough to find four of them."
